I had the incredible privilege of photographing a Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) adaptive swim clinic at the Riverdale Country School Aquatic Center. This inspiring event brought together swimmers of all abilities for a one-hour session filled with learning, connection, and fun.

The clinic was led by trained coaches who excelled at meeting each athlete at their level of ability. Watching these coaches adapt techniques to suit the unique needs of each swimmer was truly remarkable. They created an environment of encouragement and positivity that radiated through the entire facility. It wasn’t just about improving swimming skills; it was about building confidence, fostering community, and celebrating achievements big and small.

As the event photographer, I had the joy of capturing moments both in and out of the pool. From the enthusiastic smiles of participants to the encouraging gestures of the coaches, every frame told a story of perseverance and joy. One of the most exciting aspects of this assignment was the opportunity to take underwater photos. There’s something magical about capturing the determination and grace of these athletes beneath the surface. Underwater photography adds a unique perspective, allowing us to see the strength and fluidity of their movements in a way that’s rarely highlighted.

The Riverdale Country School Aquatic Center provided the perfect backdrop for this event. The facility’s welcoming atmosphere matched the spirit of the clinic, making it a day to remember for everyone involved.

Being part of this event was a humbling reminder of the power of sports and community to transform lives. The Challenged Athletes Foundation continues to do incredible work, creating opportunities for athletes of all abilities to thrive. I’m honored to have been there to document their resilience and joy—on land and underwater!
