Tim Howard Brings World Cup Excitement to CardVault at American Dream

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup putting soccer at the center of the sports world, fans have found a new way to celebrate the game through the rapidly growing world of sports card collecting. On July 16, those two worlds came together at American Dream in East Rutherford, New Jersey, where I had the opportunity to photograph U.S. soccer legend Tim Howard during a special evening hosted by CardVault by Tom Brady.

The night began at 7:00 PM EST in Court A at American Dream, where Tim Howard joined CardVault Breaks on eBay Live for a special World Cup themed livestream. The live broadcast featured soccer card breaks, exclusive memorabilia, and a series of one dollar starting auctions that allowed collectors across the country to participate in real time.

Watching the production unfold was almost as interesting as the broadcast itself. Between cameras, collectors, boxes of unopened soccer cards, and fans gathering around the stage, the energy continued to build as people anticipated seeing one of the greatest goalkeepers in American soccer history.

Following the livestream, the crowd made its way to CardVault by Tom Brady, where the evening transitioned into an 8:00 PM meet and greet. Fans lined up carrying U.S. Men’s National Team jerseys, soccer balls, trading cards, photographs, and other memorabilia, each hoping for a few moments with the player whose name became synonymous with American goalkeeping excellence.

For many, Tim Howard will always be remembered for his unforgettable performance during the 2014 FIFA World Cup against Belgium, where he made a World Cup record 16 saves in a single match. Others followed his remarkable club career with Manchester United and Everton, making this event a rare opportunity to meet someone who helped shape American soccer on both sides of the Atlantic.

As a photographer, assignments like these are always rewarding because every person in line has their own story.

Some fans had spent years waiting for the chance to meet Tim Howard. Others were introducing their children to one of the players they grew up watching. Collectors proudly held cards they had searched for, hoping to add one final signature before sealing them away forever.

Those are the moments that often make the strongest photographs.

Tim Howard was incredibly generous with his time throughout the evening. Despite the steady stream of fans, he greeted everyone with a smile, posed for photos, signed memorabilia, and made each interaction feel genuine.

CardVault by Tom Brady has quickly become one of the premier destinations for sports collectors, regularly bringing athletes, collectors, and fans together under one roof. Events like this show that the hobby has evolved into something much larger than collecting cards. It has become a place where sports memories are shared, stories are told, and lifelong fans can finally meet the athletes who inspired them.

For me, it was another opportunity to document those moments. Whether it’s photographing a global sporting event, a charity outing, or an evening like this, I enjoy capturing the genuine reactions that happen when sports bring people together.
