Last weekend, I had the incredible opportunity to photograph an adaptive water skiing event hosted by a wonderful new non-profit, Wheeling Forward. The event took place at the picturesque Anabas Boat Club in Rockaway, NY, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather. Bright skies and a gentle breeze set the perfect scene for an unforgettable day on the water.
It was heartwarming to reconnect with familiar faces like Tracy and Coach Joe, who never miss an event. Their enthusiasm and dedication to the adaptive sports community are always inspiring to witness. The athletes, as always, were the true stars of the day, showcasing their determination and joy as they took on the challenge of adaptive water skiing.
The adaptive skis used at the event were remarkable. These specially designed skis allowed the athletes to sit comfortably while being pulled by a boat, enabling them to experience the thrill of gliding across the water. Watching their faces light up with excitement as they soared over the waves was truly a highlight of the day.
As a photographer, it’s a privilege to capture moments like these—moments that tell stories of courage, resilience, and community. From the cheers of encouragement on the dock to the triumphant smiles on the athletes’ faces, every frame was filled with emotion and energy.
A huge thank you to Jason Khan and the entire Wheeling Forward team for organizing such a fantastic event. Your dedication to creating opportunities for athletes of all abilities is truly making a difference. It was an honor to document this special day, and I’m already looking forward to the next event!
